P J Brogan Opticians was originally established in 1961 by current director Roisin Brogan’s grandfather, Paddy Brogan.
Paddy was a pharmacist in Lisburn and he had a chemist located a stone’s throw from our current practice. He was famous in the local area for his invention of ‘Brogan’s Bronchial’ – a cough medicine – and later delved into the world of optometry, testing eyes in the back of his pharmacy.
In 1961 Paddy established his first optometry practice on Chapel Hill. Since then, it has blossomed and flourished under the leadership of Paddy’s son Peter, who relocated it to accommodate our ever-growing patient population, enabling us to continue offering all of our loyal clients the care and attention they deserve.
Today, when you visit our practice you can look forward to a modern yet welcoming environment run by Roisin and her partners Sylvia Ferguson, and Richard McNeight, and manned by a formidable team of friendly, knowledgeable professionals.
The attractive interior of our Lisburn branch was the brain child of Roisin’s mother Ethna – a local artist – who often receives kind words for her eye catching window displays. It’s clear to see that Ethna’s creativity has been passed on to her daughter, as Roisin is always adding an extra wow factor to our surroundings, including her mother’s much loved window arrangements.
